Bulwell Academy successfully defended their City Indoor Rowing title with an awesome display of power at the City Championships held at Fernwood School on 19th January.

3 teams battled it out over 11 races involving 2 boys and 2 girls from each of years 9 - 11. All competitors had to row and individual race as well as a 2 relay races and each athletes distance achieved was added together to give a total team distance.

Going into the last mixed relay races Bulwell were out in front by over 1000 metres, but the real battle was for the silver medals where only 7 metres split Fernwood and Nottingham Academy.

Fernwood just managed to squeeze out a few more metres to take the silvers by 83 metres. Final meters rowed:

1st - Bulwell - 20115 metres
2nd - Fernwood - 18787 metres
3rd - Nottingham Academy - 18704 metres

Bulwell will now go through to the County Finals at the Nottinghamshire School Games day on 25th February.
