We are offering Primary Schools the chance to have an Active Club run in their school.
The clubs will take place after school and focus on the Olympic and Paralympic values, they aim to increase the Physical Activity levels of the pupils involved.
Active Clubs are part of the British Heart Associations scheme to engage children in becoming more physically active, setting them tasks and activities through out the day and challenging them to think about their own lifestyle and current exercise levels.
The club will be run by three Nottingham Trent University Year 1 Sports Coaching Degree students. These students will work together to plan, deliver and run the club. However a staff member will need to be present from your school to support and supervise the sessions. The students will have received training and attended a number of workshops to help them prepare on the delivery of the club and will all be CRB checked.
The Club will be run as an after school club on Thursday's starting on Thursday 23rd January for 1 hour a week and run for a 6 week period until Thursday 12th March.
At the end of the 6 weeks the children will be invited to attend a Flames Festival. This is an event run by the students at Nottingham Trent University (Lee Westwood Sports Centre) on Thursday 22nd March from 1-3. The Flames Festival will allow your pupils to be included in a Torch Relay using the actual Olympic Torch from the 1948 Olympics, take part in a variety of activities and challenges, and meet children from other schools who have taken part in the Active Club Scheme.
