The first of our Primary Competitions took place on Monday afternoon at Highfields Hockey Centre.
20 teams took part in the Yr. 5/6 Quicksticks hockey tournament playing across 8 pitches.
It was a beautiful, sunny afternoon with plenty of matches being played. Teams were put into 4 pools in a round robin format, the top 2 teams from each pool then took part in the play-off matches, whilst the remaining teams continued to play friendly matches.
All the games were refereed by Central College leaders who received Quicksticks training prior to the tournament.
Fernwood played consistently throughout the afternoon and were awarded the bronze medals for their efforts. Whitemoor and Southwark Primary played each other early on in the tournament with Southwark winning the match; however when they met again to play off for the Gold and Silver medal positions Whitemoor fought hard and showed much improvement pushing Southwark out of the top spot.
Whitemoor became our first Champions of the 2015-16 academic year followed by Southwark taking the silver medals.
Whitemoor will now represent the City at the County Schools Games Day in July.
