In the first ever finals of the City Big Blast Cricket League Djanogly showed off their powerful hitting to walk away with the inaugural title.
The Big Blast Cricket is our version of 20/20 cricket 8 a side, 8 overs per team, players bat in pairs and using an indoor ball. Fernwood, Ellis Guilford, Nottingham Academy and Djanogly qualified from the group stages for the finals night and all 4 teams rose to the occasion, smashing the ball to all 4 corners of the Ellis Guilford playing fields.
After closely fought semi finals Nottingham Academy and Djanogly faced off in the final. Big hitting from Djanogly saw them post an imposing total of 267 which Nottingham Academy diligently attacked with regular boundaries, and importantly losing no wickets.
Going in to the last over Nottingham Academy required 9 to win, but sharp bowling from Djanogly took 2 wickets and Nottingham Academy posted a run chase of 257.
The year 7/8 championships will now follow over the next 3 weeks.
