School Sport Nottingham hosted its first Primary Dodgeball Tournament at Southglade Leisure Centre on Monday 6th November, 1pm-3pm.
20 schools took part in the afternoon but many more were on the reserve list to enter a team in this exciting event. We had an unprecedented amount of entries into this tournament which showed how much the pupils enjoy the game. Due to having to close the entries early and capping the number of players schools were allowed to bring we are going to host another Dodgeball event, again for Yr. 5/6 pupils on 2nd July 2015 at Nottingham Trent University.
For this event schools bought a squad of 6-12 players, schools were put into 4 pools of 5 teams and a round robin of matches lasting 80seconds x 3 were launched. It was an extremely busy, chaotic, fun, exciting but most of all enjoyable afternoon for all involved.
The referees from Big Wood School were kept on their toes throughout the 2 hours with 66 matches being squeezed into this period. After all of the teams had played their group matches schools who had topped their group moved into the playoff rounds. The remaining teams took part in a couple more friendly matches.
It went down to the final match but the top three teams who all received School Sport Nottingham Medals and certificates were:
Gold- Djanogly Strelly Primary School
Silver- Ambleside Primary
Bronze- St Augustines Primary.
Congratulations to all of the schools involved for showing honesty, sportsmanship and support and we look forward to seeing you again in July!
