The finals of the Year 8 Boys Basketball Championships took place at the Wildcats Arena on 10th February and provided some of the most thrilling basketball of the season.
The first semi final was a real ding dong affair with Ellis Guilford and Big Wood trading baskets at will in a game that just went from end to end, score to score with the skill level of the highest standard.
As the final whistle blew the scores were locked at 15 15 meaning 2 minutes of extra time.
Despite the valiant efforts of Ellis Guilford Big Wood managed to force a penalty basket, quickly followed by another basket to secure their place in the final with a 19-15 victory.
In the second semi Djanogly had things a little more their own way with a 14 6 win over a plucky Trinity.
The final pitched the two form teams together and didnt fail in producing another outstanding game of basketball. Once again Big Wood found themselves in a real arm wrestle and scores were traded at will and as the game entered the final minute scores were once again locked, but Big Wood found a way to take a 1 point lead to secure the gold medals.
In the bronze play off Ellis Guilford overcame their semi final disappointment to beat Trinity 18 - 6
