The 2013 competition programme came to a thrilling conclusion at the Year 10/11 Girls Basketball Finals at the Wildcats Arena on 16th December with an overtime, �golden basket� in the final.
Following the league rounds, where 9 schools had competed, Emmanuel, Big Wood Nottingham Academy and Trinity came together on finals night to play off for the City title.
After dominant semi final victories, Emmanuel and Nottingham Academy locked horns in the final in a game that promised high quality basketball, and the large crowd were not disappointed.
The game was played at a terrific pace, with both teams showing great determination and no small amount of skill and tactical play, but mid way through the second half Nottingham Academy were in a 10 � 6 lead and looked set to take the title.
Emmanuel showed great fighting spirit to stage a valiant comeback and as the final whistle blew the scores were level at 10 � 10 taking the game into 2 minutes overtime.
Nottingham Academy struck early, but with seconds left on the clock Emmanuel once again came off the canvas to score a vital basket to take the game into �golden basket�. After another bout of end to end action Emmanuel plucked the decisive basket to their great delight to secure the title and a passage into the county finals.
In a close fought bronze play off Trinity took the spoils with a 13-10 win over Big Wood.
