The Year 5/6 City Basketball Finals took place on Thursday 12th December at Nottingham Trent University.
10 schools brought teams of 10 players (5 girls and 5 boys) to this event, with the teams qualifying through from 2 heats consisting of 23 schools.
There was some great individual skill on show, as well as sportsmanship and teamwork from all teams involved.
The teams played in two league tables of 4 minute matches, and then were placed in a playoff format depending on their points.
The final matches to decide the top 3 games were extremely close, with a greatly improved Fernwood team taking third place over South Wilford.
St Marys Catholic School and Old Basford School fought very hard to contend for the top spot, Old Basford had a lot of shots just missing the target which enabled a well-practiced St Marys to take victory by 2 points.
Congratulations to all teams involved, for many it was their first experience of participating in the Basketball Championships.
