A tremendous batting display gave Ellis Guilford the inaugural Year 7 Cricket 6's title on Friday 22nd June.
On another rain soaked summers day the event was moved from its planned outdoor venue to the indoor cricket centre with 8 City schools competing for the title and to qualify as the City representative for the County Finals to be held as part of the County School Games event on 4th July.
The tournament was held in a knockout format, and after a series of close first round matches Ellis Guilford, Boys High School, Hadden Park and Nottingham Academy qualified for the semi finals.
In close matches Ellis Guilford and Nottingham Academy won through to face each other in the final with Ellis Guilford producing a tremendous batting display scoring 37 runs in their 6 overs, and despite a valiant effort Nottingham Academy came 5 runs short giving the title to the Basford team.
