Ellis Guilford took their first ever year 7 Rugby Union title with a powerful and committed performance in the Grand Final against Trinity on 20th March.
On a glorious spring evening at Moderns Rugby Club the 2 heavyweights of the 2012 year 7 Rugby Union League met on in the Grand Final and produced a gripping game of Rugby.
Unbeaten Ellis Guilford played to their strengths early in the game using their powerful scrummaging and forward play to take an early first half lead, but Trinity soon replied through their open play in the backs to make the scores level going into the half time break.
In the second half the team from Basford continued to dominate the scrums and territory, and despite resolute defending from Trinity found their way over the try line to take the lead mid way through the half which was then extended by a further try with 3 minutes left on the clock.
Trinity continued to dig and replied late on with a break away try but Ellis Guilford then hung on to win the game 15 - 10 and take the title and gold medals.
In the plate final Fernwood defeated an enthusiastic Farnborough 15 - 5 with Bluecoat taking 5th place.
Ellis Guilford will now go through to represent the City in the County finals next Thursday
