Trinity and Fernwood Schools took the Gold medals at the finals of the Year 9 Boys Basektball Leagues on 19th December
The Development League play off games produced the tightest results of the evening with the semi finals producing end to end basketball with the wionning scores in both games coming in the dying seconds of both games giving Fernwood a 8 - 7 victory over Ellis Guilford and Farnborough a 15 - 13 win over Nottingham Academy.
Notingham Academy got the better of Ellis Guilford 18 - 10 in the bronze medal play off, leaving the way for Farnborough and Fernwood to play off for the Development League title. Once again a thrilling game entertained the crowd with Fernwood again produing a 1 point, 9 - 8 victory to secure their first City title.
The Elite League finals saw comfirtable semi final victories for Trinity (20 - 3 against Emmanuel) and Djanogly City Academy (10 - 4 over Bluecoat)to set up a final against the two teams who had recorded two draws in their previous league encounters.
The first half produced very tight basketball, with the lead constantly changing, but an early second half onslaught by Trinity, with Reece Leuihan, Marcellous Xavier and Obina Aniatiu dominating play, gave Trinity a 5 pint lead that they held to secure the City title. Trinity will now go on to represent Nottingham City at the County Finals on 30th January.
