The Sport, Outdoor Learning and Sustainability Team (SOLS) based at College Street have a number of outdoor learning orientated courses scheduled over the coming months, to support schools.
Outdoor learning, which is valued both by Ofsted and the DCSF, is a key element of a young person's development, understanding how to assess risks and stay safe.
In 2008 the City Council signed up to the Learning Outside the Classroom (LOTC) manifesto as part of its commitment to outdoor learning. We acknowledge the immense value of off-site visits for young people, and fully supports and encourages all visits that are correctly planned, managed and conducted. The Service believes that all establishments should strive towards high quality off-site visits in order to maximise the benefits to the young people taking part.
The below courses are designed to support school staff in offering young people the opportunity to learn outside of the classroom.
